The Rings of Fever’s Eclipse

THE RINGS OF FEVER’S ECLIPSE: Moon conjoined to Arcturus

[I include this post for historical reasons only; the talismans were highly malefic and extremely dangerous. They could not even be stored safely but required complex deconsecrations.]

This one is one of the riskier elections I’ve done recently, to the point it almost falls out of Tradition. It’s a talismanic election for Arcturus, but the Moon is tightly applying to a Lunar eclipse.

Traditional sources disagree whether a Full Moon is benefic or malefic, but the Traditional contemporary consensus is that elections are to be avoided involving eclipses. The loophole, if there is one, is that in mundane eclipses whose angles are ruled by the benefics and/or the Sign of the principal Luminary, presage a period of peace, prosperity, and health for the kingdom.

Sources are silent on whether this can be extended to elections, but my need for an Arcturus talisman was strong and consultation with tarot repeatedly indicated that these talismans would be benevolent and strong.

The Moon was tightly applying to Arcturus on the MC as well as the benevolent North Node. The Asc and MC were ruled by the benefics, both in their exaltations. This was immediately before the beginning of the proper Lunar Eclipse, which was cadent in the 9th.

“Plantain juice with seeds or rooted placed under jasper, especially green [jasper], carries away fevers and restrains the flow of blood.”

Green jasper was used with the name Arcturus above the Quindecim Stellis sigil. Crumbled plantain chips and two types of plantain seeds were glued beneath the stones. Luckymojo Healing Oil was used, and the suffumigation was lignum aloes and plantain chips. Four rings were created and four loose gemstones/pendants.

As an experiment, I toyed with planetary dieting as a preparation for the working by eating most of the plantain chips so that I was digesting it during the talismanic election.

I’ll either have eight really strong healing talismans or eight really strong plague talismans. No one said this stuff was without danger.

The Talismans of Desire

THE TALISMANS OF DESIRE: Alahue

This was somewhat experimental, but worth noting.

“The thirteenth Mansion is Alahue, and it is for the liberation of men who are not able to come to women and for putting love between men and women. When the Moon is passing through this Mansion, fashion from red wax the image of an erect man (that is, with an erect penis); and let it be in all ways the image of a man desiring to couple with a woman. From white wax fashion the image of a woman. Bind the two images together face to face, and suffumigate them with amber and lignum aloes, and wrap them in a piece of white silk which has been washed in rosewater; and on either image write the name of the one you desire. If a woman shall carry these images with her, she will be most strongly desired by the man whose name is upon the image – which is to say, when he sees her. If another is tied or bound, who is not able to perform with women, if he shall carry the images with him it shall be dissolved and he will be able to perform with women. Know that the name ofthe lord of this Mansion is Azerut.”

That being the Plinian version. The more general Picatrix commentary is:

“In this Mansion make images for the increase of trade and profit, the increase of harvests, for travelers to have good journeys on the roads, for the completion of buildings, for the freedom of captives, and the binding of nobles to have good from them.”

In any case, I put the Moon in the 11th House this time in order to take advantage of the North Node on the Ascendant. But the great strength of this election is that the Moon is between benevolent aspects with the benefics! The Moon’s aspect to Saturn is a problem, but the Moon is waning, the aspect is benevolent, and the Moon between the benefics is a fortitude which easily surpasses that concern.

I created two loose stone talismans; two lapis lazuli cabochons, one for me and one for an unspecified recipient. (The one for me is not for virility, ahem.) Lapis lazuli is the primary stone of the Moon, and this should suffice even though the ymage is of an embracing couple on one object. AZERUT was inscribed across the middle. The suffumigation was amber and aloeswood. No oil was used, but both will be sewn into bags of white silk and anointed with rosewater.

Jupiter For Weight Loss

Pro Tip: Contrary to what you may have heard, Jupiter talismans are fantastic for weight loss. Remember that Jupiter creates beauty moreso than Venus, and that Jupiter is a temperate planet and balances out all excesses and extremes. Even contemporary science reveals that symmetrical faces and bodies are deemed beautiful over unbalanced ones.Jupiter also governs exercise, and eases pain generally.

Jupiter’s Secret Powers

The key to understanding Jupiter in a traditional context is that it is the most temperate of planets. It fills in whatever is lacking in every situation, and so it it can be defined best by negatives. It is the absence of strife and poverty, the absence of ignorance and disorder, the negation of sorrow and weakness.

Things embodying Jupiter are often subtle because they are gentle; they are like the Air– the element most aligned with the planet. It is invisible except through indirect influences, and easily taken for granted unless during a gale or in a vacuum.

Under even minimally favorable circumstances, Jupiter keeps things going just fine and dandy, and everyone mistakenly thinks this is simple normalcy.

It is the Greater Benefic at its most magnanimous.
